Curriculum

Cicada Programming offers experiential, nature-based healing programs rooted in depth psychology, Gestalt therapy, and attachment theory. Our work supports individuals and communities in healing attachment trauma through direct experience, embodied awareness, and relational safety.

Rather than relying solely on talk therapy, Cicada uses a “side-door” approach—integrating somatic practices, mindfulness, creativity, and nature immersion—to help participants gently work through unfinished emotional experiences. This method builds ego strength, self-regulation, and real-world integration by meeting people where they are, in the present moment.

Our programs are designed as workshops that can easily expand into educational, recreational, and community-based offerings. By working outdoors and in group settings, we foster belonging, authenticity, and resilience while also reducing burnout for facilitators and expanding access to care. Outcomes are measurable and attachment-focused, including increased self-soothing, clearer boundaries, stronger values, and a deeper sense of connection.

Get Out. Get Real. Go Wild.
An 8-week experiential series focused on confidence, self-trust, and authenticity. Participants explore identity, boundaries, self-expression, and intention through wilderness therapy, art, play, mindfulness, and Gestalt practices—culminating in ceremony and celebration.

REALationships
A 4-week series exploring how past trauma shows up in current relationships, with practical tools for repair and connection. Informed by attachment research, Gottman Method principles, and Nonviolent Communication. All relationship types welcome.

Self-Esteem Superhero
A playful, creative confidence-building workshop that helps participants identify their strengths, personal power, and unique gifts—complete with cape and shield.

Coping Skills
A practical nervous-system toolkit for stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. Learn fast, effective strategies for regulating fight, flight, and freeze—anytime, anywhere.

Good Grief!
Seasonal grief support in community. Honor loss, reduce isolation, and find meaning through ritual, creativity, and shared presence.

Healthy Boundaries
Learn how to create fulfilling, respectful relationships by recognizing somatic triggers and Gestalt contact boundary patterns—using experiential and creative exercises.

Vali-Dating
A fully platonic, structured experience for practicing deep listening, validation, and clear communication in real time.

Free Your Mind Hike
Mindfulness in motion. Cultivate presence, clarity, and calm while walking in nature.

Courage Camp
A wilderness-based program using activities like rock climbing, equine work, and kayaking to build confidence, courage, and self-esteem.

You’re Grounded!
A horticulture-based program teaching grounding, nervous-system regulation, and basic permaculture skills such as planting, composting, and soil care.

Earth Warrior Training
Environmental action as therapy. Build agency and empowerment through community clean-ups, activism education, and connection to the land.

Hugfest
A community gathering centered on connection, play, music, mindfulness, and gratitude—because healing happens together.

Wildcrafting
Learn to safely identify, harvest, and prepare medicinal herbs while deepening your relationship with the natural world.
